May 25 meeting

The meeting began with a thankyou to the people who made the Wooden Boat Festival a success. This included those that helped set up on the Friday, those that demonstrated woodturning, whittling, carving and pyrography and those that helped dismantle and clean up. The sales table produced close to $2500 and there was considerable interest in what we do by the public.

Wooden egg sales at the Jetty Food Store in Port Elliot in aid of the Hooded Plover Conservation Fund have produced $500 since the Port Elliot Show. Mandy was thanked for delivering the eggs and collecting the money. The money goes direct to fund the Hooded Plovers saving 15% admin fee The Hooded Plover Group plan to buy a banner to use at their promotional events. David and Bill will be meeting with Kerry from Bird Life Australia in the next couple of weeks for a photo session to promote the eggs and Fleurieu Woodturners

Our next big club function will be the Port Elliot Show, and members were reminded again to support the event by entering in the woodcraft sections of the show

Mandy had some walking stick blanks that were available for anyone planning on making a walking stick.

The June meeting will be a discussion on finishes .
